„99 & A Half“ features the unique vocals of Alexander East, who already performed on labels like NRK or Leaf and released his own productions on Aroma, Afterhours and on his own label Planet East. East‘s distinctive vocals perfectly underline the beauty mood of the track.
On the A-side one of the best and hippest french producer and DJ convinces with a formidable remix: I:Cube is known since more than 10 years for great releases on Versatile and many remixes for famous labels. Together with Gilb‘R he also forms the Chateau Flight project.
I:Cube‘s remix of „99 & A Half“ simply is tha bomb. Kicking off smoothly with some reduced electro- and percussive elements, suddenly the mix opens up to cinematographic rooms with warm sounds and a beautiful atmosphere.
Phonique himself contributes two mixes on the B-side. Very close to the original is the funky and fleet-footed „album Xl version“ with an extra chunk of deepness.
On the „Deep Dub mix“ Phonique strips down the original to a beautifully relaxing soundscape.
